Nuevo Pemex Cogeneration (300 MW): Advanced engineering for efficient steam supply at the PEMEX complex
Mexico
The Nuevo Pemex Cogeneration plant, located within PEMEX’s gas processing complex near Villahermosa, Tabasco (Mexico), is a 300 MW simple cycle facility designed to deliver a reliable supply of 500 t/h of high-pressure steam to the processing complex, particularly for the cryogenic units. This Nuevo Pemex Cogeneration plant can increase steam flow up to 800 t/h with the support of post-combustion in the CERREY recovery boilers. The plant consists of two GE 7FA multi-shaft gas turbines and two post-combustion heat recovery boilers. IDOM provided both basic and detailed engineering services, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability.
The project’s main goal was to provide a reliable supply of 500 ton/h high pressure steam to the gas process complex, in particular to provide the feeding of the cryogenic units. This steam flow could be increased to 800 ton/h with the help of the post-combustion included in the HRSG’s.
The main installations of the project include a 300 MWe Cogeneration Plant, composed of two GE-7FA multishaft turbines powered by natural gas, and two heat recovery boilers equipped with post-combustion manufactured by CERREY.
IDOM developed the basic and detailed engineering of the project.
