Support for the development and operation of the Artificial Intelligence Centre of the Basque Country.

BAIC was created in June 2021 as a space for public-private collaboration to promote Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Basque Country. It is an instrument designed to achieve rapid industrial adoption, while serving as a laboratory for experimenting and accelerating projects that will promote international positioning in one of the greatest technological and social challenges.

One of the objectives of the IDOM is to broaden the scope of BAIC’s support services and, to this end, it is incorporating a BAIC Innovation Lab. This will include industrial engineering practices for developing AI pilots for industrial applications through to minimum viable products (MVP). This incorporation encourages networking with innovative start-ups (in line with projects such as BAT: B Accelerator Tower), requires the search for non-conventional funding resources (private purchase of innovation, public-private co-financing, supra-regional funds (e.g.: Next Generation, RETECH, H2027…) and requires the secretariat to prepare reports, presentations, monitoring of financial resources and management of discharges.

IDOM is thus responding to the current and future challenges of the BAIC: to promote the development of Artificial Intelligence, to articulate the Basque AI ecosystem, to promote the creation of new companies in the sector, to promote STEM professions in AI, to promote synergies between the different existing scientific and technological capacities, to promote the Basque AI offer internationally, and to analyze and consider the ethical implications of these technological advances.

In short, a commitment to the creation of an industry that serves the economic and social development of the country.
