Basic Engineering for the Gonghe Concentrating Solar Power Plant (50 MW) in China
China
IDOM has developed the basic engineering for the Gonghe concentrating solar power plant, a 50 MW facility in China promoted by North West Engineering Corporation. This concentrating solar power plant uses central tower technology and a molten salt-based thermal storage system. IDOM was responsible for the design of the molten salt system, the receiver, the steam generation system, and the thermal storage, enhancing the project’s energy efficiency.
Among these, is the 50 MW Gonghe plant, being developed by the North West Engineering Corporation, with central tower technology and a thermal energy storage system based on molten salts. IDOM has developed, on behalf of the developer, the basic engineering of the molten salt system, including the receiver, the steam generation system and the thermal storage system.
In addition, IDOM has carried out the basic engineering of the thermal storage system of the 135-MW Qinghai Delingha Tower project (Developers: JV BrightSource & Shanghai Electric), commissioned by JV BrightSource, the company responsible for the technology used in the facility to capture and receive solar energy.
