Technical Advisory and Optimization for the Al-Dibdibah Photovoltaic Plant (1,500 MW) in Shagaya, Kuwait

IDOM has provided technical advisory services for the Al-Dibdibah photovoltaic plant, a landmark 1,500 MW project located in the Shagaya Renewable Energy Park (SREP) near Kuwait City. This photovoltaic plant, promoted by the Kuwait National Petroleum Company and led in the bidding process by Alghanim International, involves the optimization of layout, energy performance, and costs, making a significant contribution to the advancement of renewable energy in the region.
The SREP is located in a desert zone approximately 100 km west of Kuwait City, and nearly 10 km from Highway 70. The Al-Dibdibah project will have a total field surface of 32 km², with 1,500 MW of nominal power, and its start-up is foreseen in 2021.
A Consortium led by Alghanim International for General Trading and Contracting Company -major EPC company in Kuwait and Middle East- intends to participate in this tender. Alghanim has appointed IDOM as Technical Advisor for preparing their technical proposal for the tender, in order to optimize the layout, the production, and the LCOE (Levelized Cost Of Energy). The scope of work includes:
- Layout optimization
- Energy yield optimization
- Cost and LCOE optimization
- Review of Consortium technical proposal’s documentation
- Review of main equipment suppliers’ technical documentation
