Changing the mindset: Vocational Training for Industry 4.0

XVII PROFESSIONAL TRAINING DAY IN TERRASSA

“The challenges of Vocational Training for Industry 4.0”. This was the slogan of the XVII Professional Training Day, held in September in Terrassa (Spain).

This year’s session was focused on the fourth industrial revolution and the purpose was to discuss the changes that are taking place within companies, the challenges that these changes in the work methodology imply, and the degree of implication of theses. In this regard, the need to strengthen and improve the training of people to facilitate the transition to the new requirements on Industry 4.0 was highlighted.

Among the guests was Ricardo Álvarez-Cienfuegos, a Competitiveness and Innovation Consultant at IDOM, who presented the “Sector Plan for the Development of Industry 4.0 in Terrassa” (see paper and press release in Catalan), a project developed this year for the City Council of Terrassa. During his presentation, Ricardo highlighted the challenges and opportunities that this new industry offers and, above all, what its implementation in companies means for Vocational Training students.
