Designing the longest railway bridge in the Baltic States

IDOM, THE MAIN DESIGN FIRM WORKING ON RAIL BALTICA

IDOM is designing six sections for the high-speed train that will cross the Baltic States. Currently, the firm is carrying out the design and supervision during the construction of 393 km (Project reference). With all these sections, IDOM is now the main design firm working on Rail Baltica, the rail network that will connect the Baltic States (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia), Poland and, indirectly, Finland with the current European network.

The 1.7 km long viaduct over the Neris River, for which Rail Baltica is launching the construction tender, will be the longest railway bridge in the Baltic States and is part of the section designed by IDOM, between Kaunas and the border from Lithuania and Latvia.

The project is being developed using BIM, which allows the different teams to work collaboratively and remotely on the model. Changes can be viewed and implemented in real time. The use of this type of platform minimizes the impact of COVID-19, so the progress of the projects is not interrupted, and the deadlines are met.
