“Bridge design: 2020”

“Bridge design: 2020” is the first session of the series of seminars organized by the Civil Engineering School College (Colegio de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales y Puertos) of Madrid, was attended by Jorge Bernabéu, a Project Manager of IDOM, along with other representatives of the sector.

Jorge Bernabéu spoke of the concept of creative engineering in relation to bridges, where the form is not just the result of calculations or ideas, but also has to do with the location, the legacy of what has already been built or drawings. In addition, he expanded on the relationship between form-structure and structure-ornament, with two important bridge projects developed by IDOM in Riyadh, the Prince Turki-Oroubah intersection and the Abi Bakr bridge.

Seminars like this, where methods and experiences are shared, are a platform to demonstrate the complexity of the engineers’ work and reinforce engineering as a reference for the technical, creative and formal expression of bridges.
