IDOM volunteers in Uganda

Seven schools-orphanages obtained access to the electric light thanks to this initiative

What would happen if, overnight, we ran out of electricity? Our life would be dependent on the hours of sunlight, we would not be able to cook dinner, we would have to do our homework by candlelight… This is the situation faced by thousands of people in Uganda.

Our colleagues at IDOM, through a solidarity initiative with the NGO Saluganda, have collaborated as volunteers to install solar panels in seven schools-orphanages in Uganda. Thanks to this project, these children in the districts of Mukono and Buikwe will be able to continue with their school activities after dark. This type of support to improve access to education and training will facilitate social inclusion and increase opportunities for all these children.

Saluganda is currently working on the following projects: “Sustainable Schools” and “Women Livestock Breeders“. In the first, Saluganda provides the necessary infrastructure to improve the quality of education and living conditions in schools. In the second, Saluganda supports women’s groups in vulnerable communities in the creation of small livestock farms.

We invite you to learn more about these projects and to collaborate with them on Saluganda’s website.
