Crescent Dunes: 110 MWe Central Tower Solar Power Plant in Nevada, a Global Benchmark

USA

The Crescent Dunes central tower solar power plant, located in the Nevada desert, is a milestone in solar energy as the world’s largest plant of its kind and the first in the United States. With a net capacity of 110 MWe, this central tower solar power plant employs a heliostat solar field and direct heating of molten salts in the central receiver, allowing for 6 to 8 hours of thermal energy storage.

The final client of IDOM is Solar Reserve and the project is funded by the DOE (Department of Energy).
