Potash – Iberpotash, ICL Iberia
Flotation unite in Súria, Barcelona
ICL/Iberpotash extracts silvinite in its mines in Barcelona, which it subsequently uses for the production of potash. In order to double the capacity of its facilities, ICL/Iberpotash contracted IDOM turnkey services – Engineering, Supplies and Construction (EPC) under the modality of PMG engineering, to carry out the design, construction and the launch of the new Silvinita Flotation Unit in Súria, Barcelona, Spain. With this new plant, the highest industrial potash recovery rates will be obtained.
The ore processing plant separates Potassium Salts and Sodium Salts based on Silvinite, a mineral composed primarily of Silvita (KCl) and Halita (NaCl). The potash concentrate obtained by flotation separation techniques is dried and compacted in the plant. The plant processes 4.4 million tons of silvinite annually, obtaining up to 1.1 Mtpa of Potassium Chloride.
The main process installations are as follows
