Sodium Sulfates – Minera Santa Marta
Ternardite-Glauberite Dissolution Plant

The Ternardite-glauberite dissolution plant Minera Santa Marta, developed by IDOM, marks a significant milestone in sodium sulfate production for industries such as detergents, glass, pulp and paper, textiles, food, and pharmaceuticals. This Ternardite-glauberite dissolution plant Minera Santa Marta project includes detail engineering for a facility with a capacity of 150,000 kg/h of Na₂SO₄ solution, using crushed ore from a nearby mine and water for dissolution, and covers civil and installation engineering as well as the SP3D model based on the basic engineering from GEA Messo.

IDOM has carried out the Detail Engineering for the Ternardita-Glauberita dissolution plant, with a production capacity of 150,000 kg/h of Na2SO4 solution, from 78,000-85,000 kg/h of ore.

The plant feeds on crushed ore from a nearby mine and uses water for its dissolution. The mineral is composed of ternardite (Na2SO4), glauberite (Na2SO4 x CaSO4), Sodium chloride (NaCl), insoluble (clays) and water.

IDOM has developed the civil and installation engineering of the mentioned dissolution plant, as well as the SP3D model based on the basic engineering of the GEA Messo supplier.
